Finmere Village Hall & Playing Fields

Registered charity - 1168895

Close to the northern boundary of the village, lies the Playing Field and Village Hall.   [map here]    The playing field contains a football pitch, cricket pitch and a cricket pavillion.
In addition, on the northern edge of the field is a children's play area featuring a variety of play equipment, including climbing frame, swings and zip wire. The play area is adjacent to the village hall, with patio doors in the hall, facing the play area.

The village hall has been the recipient of a number of local grants and has recently been the subject of a refurbishment project. The hall contains a 91 square metre general area, plus a committee meeting room, kitchen, store room and disabled toilets. Secure WiFi is available for users of the hall. To comply with Health & Safety regulations, the hall has a maximum capacity of 90 persons. Solar power has recently been installed.
One of the village defibrillators is located at the hall.

The hall and field facilities are regularly used by the Cricket and Football clubs, Youth organisations, Dog training club, Dance classes, the Parish Council and a variety of other local organisations.

The facilities are managed by a group of village volunteers, under the registetered charity 'Finmere Village Hall & Playing Fields (CIO)'.
All hall management meetings are open to villagers, are normally held on a monthly basis and additional volunteers are always welcome to join the team.

A decision was taken recently, but not lightly, to remove 3 trees which have always been too close to the hall and have caused regular blocking of the hall gutters. The blocking of the gutters had regularly caused a build up of water and as a consequence, damp issues in the southern facing hall wall. In addition a decision has recently been made to install solar panels on the hall roof and this has brought the issue of the proximity of the trees to a head. Some pollarding was considered, but advice was given that the trees were not suitable for such. The Parish council has approved the removal of the trees and also agreed that replacement trees would be planted in another more suitable location.
